A FREE GUIDE

You are not who happened to you.

Trauma creates adaptations. Awareness creates choice.

You built a self on the information you were given. Then the information moved. What comes next is not a crisis of facts. It is a rebuild of meaning, and it goes better when you understand what is actually happening.

What is inside?

Why your personality is not a prison. The patterns you call "just how I am" were strategies that kept you safe. Strategies can be examined. Identity is what you choose.

Why change feels so hard. A plain explanation of what happens in your brain when the old way pulls at you, and why the difficulty is not failure.

Three questions to ask yourself. A short exercise for finding where a trait started, what it protected you from, and whether that threat is still here.

Is this you?

Identity comes apart in a lot of different ways. The event is never the same. The mechanism always is. Something you built yourself on turned out not to be solid ground.

~You grew up between countries or cultures and have never had a clean answer to where you are from.

~You moved, or your family did, and the person you were did not survive the move.

~A DNA test told you something about your family that nobody had told you.

~You were adopted, or you found out later that you were.

~You carry a heritage that people cannot see when they look at you.

~A divorce, a diagnosis, a death, or the end of a career took the floor out from under you.

Who is writing this?

I am Bradley Hall. I am a trauma recovery coach, faculty member and approved supervisor with the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaches, and I hold a master's in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.

In 2018 a DNA test told me the man I called Dad was not my biological father, and that my biological father had lived near me my whole life and died before I could meet him. I have spent the years since working with people standing where I stood.

This is a hand reaching back down a hill I have already climbed.
